Mr. K, a third-year student in the School of Commerce, Waseda University, gave us some advice for international students. As a student at Waseda University, she feels that she has broadened her horizons by coming into contact with other cultures while studying in an internationalized environment.Ms. K spoke candidly about the importance of jumping into an internationalized environment in her study abroad life and how her international students can develop themselves.
Life in the dormitory was much better than I had imagined.I like that the dining room is bright and spacious. My favorite menu items are curry rice and tempura. When I came to the dormitory, I was most looking forward to thinking, "What will we have for dinner tomorrow?"After three or four years, I feel like I've conquered all of them (laughs). It is healthy because it considers nutritional balance and calories. In my hometown in China, there are more than XNUMX kinds of noodles, so there are times when I miss noodles, but... it's a hassle to make them myself.
Began to take responsibility as an RA
The RA who accepted me when I came to the dormitory was very kind and helped me in many ways.I wanted to do something like this, so I started doing RA in September of last year, and now, in my second year, I've gradually begun to feel a sense of responsibility...The other day, I planned an autumn leaves viewing event, and when I posted it on LINE, more than 20 people responded, but only about 10 people came on the day.We had to leave at XNUMXam, so there were a lot of people who couldn't wake up in the morning, so we were down by about half (laughs). From the next time onwards, I have to think about everyone's lives, so I reflected on it.But it was a lot of fun.I went to Chichibu, and the yakisoba was delicious.
Spacious rooms and convenient living in Tokorozawa
I also like WID Tokorozawa's spacious private rooms.Recently, a friend of mine moved into a dormitory near the university, but it's a bit cramped there.I put a lot of things in the room, so it's tough if it doesn't have enough space.Right now, I'm addicted to the Nintendo Switch, and I have a projector so I can project it on the wall and play with my friends on the big screen.Life in Tokorozawa is convenient. There are many shops around the station, and shopping is easy. After my part-time job, I go back through the shopping district, but the money I earn is spent shopping at the shopping district (laughs).Even at night, there are a lot of people and it's bright, so you can feel safe.
Get inspired and broaden your horizons
My advice to international students reading this would be to jump into the world of internationalization.I think it's good to make friends with people from different countries.By interacting with people from cultures you don't know about, you will be stimulated, broaden your horizons, and be able to accept other cultures. Also, it will help you study the language.I think some people only want to date people from their own country, but I don't think that's a waste.I think it's good to be able to get along with various people cheerfully.
