There are approximately 150 types of on-campus scholarships independently established by Waseda University. All of them are grant scholarships that do not require repayment.Among them, the representative one is the decision to hire before admission.Aim!Metropolitan Seihoku Scholarship"is.In addition, our company (Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd.), which provides Waseda University's affiliated international student dormitory WID, also offers its own scholarship dormitory system. This time, Mr. S, a first-year student in the Faculty of Culture, Media and Society, who actually used the Seihoku Scholarship and the scholarship dormitory system of the capital, lives here.WID Hanakoganei XNUMXWe interviewed him about his life as an examinee and his life after entering university.

Waseda University Faculty of Culture, Media and Society 1st year Mr. S

In the first place, I thought that I would not be accepted to Waseda University.Because it was an E judgment in the common test ...However, I was fascinated by all the subjects that I could take, not just undergraduates, so let's do as much as we can!I studied desperately.

Apply before filing "Aim!Metropolitan Seihoku ScholarshipBut when I was studying for entrance exams, I didn't have time to think about scholarships. Her mother found it on a website and she qualified so she applied. Before the results were announced, she received a message that she had become a candidate for employment, but it was emotionally complicated (laughs).I'm happy that I've finally passed the exam, and I'm happy with everything.

I was prepared for a crumbling dormitory

My hometown is Oarai in Ibaraki Prefecture, but Waseda is far away, so I thought I would have to move to Tokyo. At first, I was looking for an apartment, but along with the information that I was a candidate for a scholarship, there was a discount information for WID.The annual management fee was exempted, and the rent was about 1 yen cheaper.

Right now, I think I'm paying about 7 yen including food expenses, but if it's true, it would have cost about 7 yen a month. Before moving in here, I had visited a dormitory at a certain national university, but it was so shabby that I was prepared for something like that. It's a private room, and the meals are included...it's really a wonderful dormitory.

A large bath like a public bath

I can't think of any particular disadvantages, but... since this is a men's dormitory, it's prohibited for women to stay here, but some people may not like it.In a mixed dormitory, I can't walk around in my underwear after taking a bath, so I think it's better to live here. Also, since the plumbing is shared, it may be a bit troublesome to have to bring a change of clothes, a bath towel, shampoo, etc. to the bath.

However, I appreciate the large bath.I often went to public baths in my hometown. The rice in the dining room is rather bland and delicious.Personally, I prefer the light taste, so it was good, but I'm not good at mayonnaise, so I don't like tartar sauce. All the boiled foods are delicious.

A safe and comfortable city to live in

This place is a bit far from the university, so it might be better for people who can wake up early. However, my friends who live very close to Takadanobaba said, "The next day, I'll be starting the first period, so you can stay here." .The neighborhood is quiet, and it's an area where mothers who are raising children, grandparents, etc. live, so it feels safe.

There are many shops within walking distance.Come to think of it, my father said at first, "Huh? Is it Hanakoganei?"Older people may have an image of the countryside, but now it's one of the cities I want to live in.There are quite a lot of parks, so it's a very comfortable place to live.My father actually came here and said it was a nice place. It looks like where I used to live.

challenge the unexperienced

I'm in a ski club at university.I've never done it before, but I thought it would be fun.Her parents said, "I got a scholarship, so I'll give you money for clothes."I'm thinking of working on the boots myself and borrowing the skis from a senior for the time being.

I'm really grateful to be able to challenge something that looks fun and I want to try.I'm also in a programming circle, and I hope one day I'll be able to create my own games. In the future, I am interested in urban planning, so I would like to learn how to preserve the city as a cultural property and how to consider and protect the city landscape as a form of art in my current faculty. I am thinking.
