[Aim! Miyako no Seihoku Scholarship x Scholarship Dormitory Experience] The unexpected charm of WID Tokorozawa, one step from the city center

Waseda University offers approximately 150 types of internal scholarships. All of these are scholarships that do not require repayment. The most representative of these is the ``Aim! Miyako no Seihoku Scholarship,'' for which admission is decided before admission. In addition, our company (Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd.), which provides Waseda University's affiliated international student dormitory WID, also offers its own scholarship dormitory system. This time, we will introduce Mr. K, a third-year student in the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, who actually took advantage of the Seihoku Scholarship and scholarship dormitory system.WID TokorozawaWe interviewed him about his life as an examinee and his life after entering university.
I was successfully accepted into Waseda University, which was my first choice, and started an independent life with the Tokyo Seihoku Scholarship and scholarship dormitory system. For me, a native of Hyogo Prefecture, living in Tokyo was a series of new experiences.
Reason for choosing WID Tokorozawa
I chose WID Tokorozawa because the dormitory I was originally in closed down and I was forced to look for a new one. The candidate was WID Tokorozawa.
In fact, it was my lowest candidate. Tokorozawa is quite far from the Waseda campus, so I was concerned about the time it would take to commute. However, when I actually visited, I found out that it is very close to the station and that you can take a direct train to the city center. Above all, I remember the warmth of the hostess who welcomed me. They welcomed me like family, which was a decisive reason for choosing to live here. Furthermore, the spacious private room was a perfect fit for me.
Support system for student life
In terms of living, I am very grateful to be provided with breakfast and dinner. Although the building is quite old, the common facilities are always well-maintained, and what was appealing about it was that there was not only a large public bath but also a private shower that could be used 24 hours a day. Good public safety and easy access to the city center also gave me peace of mind. I am able to take advantage of the scholarship dormitory system, which keeps costs down, and I feel that I am able to concentrate on my university life because of the generous support I receive in my daily life.
Also, since I started living alone, I feel that my life rhythm has become more regular and my self-management skills have improved. I have gained the ability to do household chores such as meals, laundry, and cleaning by myself, and I feel that my sense of independence is gradually increasing.
Growth gained through part-time work
I used to work part-time as a cram school instructor, but recently I changed jobs to a salesperson at a department store. I chose a department store because I wanted to have the opportunity to interact with more people through the customer service industry. In addition to studying politics and economics, the university also focuses on learning English and Chinese. This is because we believe that language skills that can be used in a global society will be an important weapon. Also, after I finish taking my specialized courses, I would like to take advantage of Waseda University's open courses to gain exposure to fields such as music and art. I would like to be able to acquire comprehensive skills by deepening my education.
What I want to convey to examinees
Lastly, I would like to say to all the students taking the exam and to my juniors, ``I want you to value what you are currently working on and do your best.'' Studying for entrance exams, club activities, and friendships are very valuable experiences that can only be tackled in the ``now''. Therefore, I believe it is important to do our best. I believe that I have grown through those experiences. After enrolling, please try as many things as you like. I would like them to broaden their horizons not only through their studies, but also through club activities and part-time jobs. Miyako's Seihoku Scholarship and WID Tokorozawa's scholarship dormitory not only provided me with financial support, but also provided me with a place for independence and growth.
